Power of Gratitude
Power of Gratitude
Gratitude means the power of a feeling of 'thankfulness'. Being thankful calms your mind and brings you the feeling of joy, peace and love for things around you. Gratitude signifies the word 'Shukrana'. In Gurudwaras, people touch the prasad by their forehead reflecting how thankful they are for the 'Roti' filled with god's power and blessings. This is the culture of Sikhs. In Hindus, we bow our heads in front of God while offering our prayers and being thankful for what he has given to us more than our capability. We perform 'Thank you' to Sun while starting our day by offering him water (jal). We 'thank god' for a new start to the day. In Hindu culture, gratitude has always been there and it's been our lifestyle. We start our day, by touching the floor to thank 'Bhumi' for being wake up alive and healthy. We recite prayers to God to thank him for all the material things we have and for the spiritual wisdom he provided to us. It has been taught from childhood to kids to touch the feet of elders and loved ones to gain blessings (Ashirvaad) and positivity in our lives. It's a sign of gratitude that we are thankful for the elders we have. Saying thank you before eating signifies that we are grateful for the food we have. When we do this, food and water carry those positive vibrations and our body and mind get benefit out of it. That's why there is this popular saying, 'Jaisa Ann, Waisa Mann'. When new things and accessories we bought, we first say 'thank you' to God and it creates a positive cycle of attraction in our lives. Buying a car, a new home, and many more, we first offer 'thank you' in temples and perform 'bhumi pujan' for new land. Our culture and gratitude have always been connected with each other. Ancestors and Saints know the science of the human brain and the Universe where we attract more by feeling thank you for the things. Spending money on donations and charity for temples and distributing things to needy ones creates a sense of joy inside us, where that person attracts more money because due to gratitude, he starts feeling happy attracts more Lakshmi to him/her.
Feeling thankful is important rather than just saying thank you. Gratitude itself carries lots of positive energy. Many scientists believe in this fact that the Universe works on the Law of Energy. Make a list of what you are thankful for and perform gratitude daily. It shifts your brain from complaining mode to the feeling of joy and love. Suddenly, you start finding solutions to your problems because your focus shifts towards positivity rather than complaining and cribbing. Learn more, spread more and feel gratitude more. You connect with your inner-self and through nature, trees and plants, you can feel your inner calmness and silence more.
By understanding our culture and rituals, we can see the gratitude in everything.
